NSW Disability Services Act Review

The NSW Government is undertaking a review of the Disability Services Act. It's been 20 years since the Act came into place, and so there is a need for an update.

As part of the process the Goverment would like to hear from;
  • people with disability, their families and carers
  • service providers
  • advocates
  • peak disability and representative organisations
  • government departments, local government and community agencies.

They are interested in hearing from as many people and groups as possible and welcome all contributions. There are several ways you can contribute, through either a face to face consultation session or written feedback.

Consultation sessions have been arranged for both regional and metropolitan areas. Each session will run for 2.5 hours and include up to 40 participants:

The issues paper, ‘Reforming NSW disability support – the fundamental legislative issues’ (available online mid January 2013) will form the basis of the consultation sessions.

Written submission

You are invited to write to express your views on the issues paper and/or the companion discussion paper, ‘Reforming NSW disability support - legislative structure and content’ (available online mid January 2013), which provides a more detailed examination on the structure, content and particular elements that may be included within new disability legislation.

The closing date for all written feedback is 5:00pm Monday 18 February 2013.
